Spikehorn Ridge's Canoe Trips

The months of April and May signify the beginning of canoeing season in Vermont. High water levels from spring run off make for some excellent whitewater canoeing and kayaking in waterways that are hardly a trickle in summer months. Some of the rivers that we commonly guide both day and multiple day canoe trips on throughout the spring summer and fall include: the Winooski river, the White river, and the Lamoille river, all of Vermont, the Connecticut, the Merrimack river, and the Androscoggin, all of New Hampshire, and the Allagash Wilderness Waterway of northern Maine. There are also literally thousands of ponds and lakes in northern New England that offer some spectacular canoeing opportunities.

Canoeing is a fantastic way to see the North Country and pursue your outdoor hobbies. Our guides specialize in plant and animal identification, ensuring that the diversity of life along a waterway will not go unnoticed. Bird watching and nature photography are just two activities that many people enjoy while on our canoe trips. The notion of “getting away from it all” attracts many of our clients to pursue overnight canoe trips in this breathtaking part of the world.
